Even so, Rumble Roses XX, simply put, is a shallow, hyper-sexualized wrestling game that makes up its lack of finesse with an absurd amount of flash. It might be worth a rent to ogle the ladies, but beyond that, avoid it completely.

The character sheet for the all-female wrestling game series Rumble Roses.
Reiko Hinomoto
- All-American Face: Japanese in this case as she loves her country.
- Badass Adorable: While Reiko is a capable wrestler, she is seen asking her deceased mom to watch over her and she is a fangirl of Aisha.
- Big Damn Heroes: Trailers for XX has Reiko pull this in a manner that would do 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, The Rock or John Cena proud.
- Fangirl: Reiko is a big fan of Aisha's. Too bad Aisha treats her with disdain when they meet, believing that Dixie must have been 'trippin' to be excited over Reiko and that Kamikaze Rose must have been spinning in her grave.
- Friendly Rivalry: With Dixie.
- Meaningful Name: Her surname literally translates to 'Player One' in Japanese. Also, 'Rei' can mean 'Zero', hence her wrestling moniker 'Zero Fighter'.
- Momma's Boy: Frequently asks her mother in heaven to watch over her, and fights her matches and advances in her goals for her mother's sake.
- My Hero Zero: Her wrestling moniker is 'Zero Fighter'.
- No Sympathy: Apparently, as we learn in Makoto and Evil Rose's storylines, Reiko's mother used to tell her that 'there is no mercy in combat'. This is played gently, however; it just means Reiko never holds back when she fights.
- Panty Shot: Her hot pants are perpetually unzipped, revealing her panties' waistband.
- To Be a Master: Reiko's goal is to be the greatest wrestler the world has ever seen, to make her mother in heaven proud of her.
Dixie Clements
- All-American Face: Her superstar gimmick.
- Ass Kicks You:
- In Rumble Roses XX, she has a move that can be performed on a downed foe in a corner which involves her slamming her ass into her opponent's face three times. She ends this by running off the opposite side ropes, and delivering a running butt slam.
- As part of the Double X team move American Attack (when paired with Aisha), Dixie begins the move by running towards the opponent, turning around, and hitting them with her buttocks.
- Big Damn Heroes: In Aisha's storyline, Aisha doesn't notice Lady X get back and attack after Aisha beats her, so Dixie charges into the ring and attacks Lady X.
- Boobs of Steel: Dixie seems to have larger-than-usual breasts. Both Aigle and Candy Cane comment on them in their respective storylines.
- Cowboy: Her gimmick.
- Expy: Like Tina Armstrong, Dixie's a blonde, big breasted American wrestler who is one of the most predominant non-Asian females in the cast.
- Fangirl: Dixie used to greatly look up to and admire Kamikaze Rose; now that Kamikaze Rose is dead, this is Dixie's motivation for her rivalry with Kamikaze Rose's daughter, Reiko.
- Friendly Rivalry: With Reiko.
- Isn't It Ironic?: Her entrance song is 'Yankee Rose', even though she's from the Deep South.note
- Only Sane Man: Acts very much like a professional wrestler, as opposed to most of the cast who seem to totally buy into the kayfabe.
Aisha
- Big Damn Heroes: In Dixie's storyline, after Dixie beats Lady X the final boss, Lady X charges at Dixie as she is trying to catch her breath, but Aisha suddenly shows up and saves Dixie on the grounds that she wants nobody other than herself to take Dixie down.
- Dark-Skinned Blond: As can be seen in her picture.
- I Know Kung-Fu: She wears black MMA-style gloves, uses armbars, and the ground n' pound. In RRXX, she adds mounted knees.
- The Minnesota Fats: With Dixie. Unusually, it's not just because Dixie once defeated Aisha. As Aisha explains before their match in her storyline, it's also because Aisha was born poor and had to work her way up to wealth, while Dixie has always had money. Also, in Aisha's opinion, Dixie always 'acted like the queen of high school.'
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Her moves and appearance are blatantly inspired by several different pop starlets, with Beyoncé being the most obvious.
- The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Despite how mad Aisha is at Dixie, she actually saves Dixie in the latter's ending because she is going to be the one to take Dixie down.
- Shaking the Rump: Both her regular and Superstar intro has this.
- Unknown Rival: Aisha is one to Dixie; Dixie didn't have a clue 'what she ever did to Aisha' until Aisha explained herself just before their match.
Makoto Aihara
- Badass Adorable: She's a judoka who treats every match as a learning experience.
- Catchphrase: 'Time to psych up! Fight!! Fight!! Fight!!' She says this twice: once at the beginning of her own storyline, and once in Reiko's storyline before Reiko and Makoto's match.
- Genki Girl: She is always psyching herself.
- Idol Singer: Her superstar gimmick.
- The Minnesota Fats: With Aigle, but a much more mild example than Aisha with Dixie. Makoto does not hold a grudge against Aigle like Aisha does with Dixie; rather, Makoto thinks Aigle is strong because Aigle beat her before and Makoto wants to get strong enough to beat Aigle. They're rather civil to each other even before they become friends.
- The Power of Friendship: Makoto believes in this. Her theory is that everyone has inner weaknesses they try to hide, but friends can help each other overcome them and become stronger. The power of friendship works in this example; it allows Makoto to break Aigle free of Anesthesia's brainwashing in her storyline, much to Anesthesia's disgust.
- Weak, but Skilled: She's among the physically weakest of the girls in the game but she makes up for it by being an Olympic level judoka (judo practicioner).
- Yamato Nadeshiko: She compliments Candy Cane and Reiko after beating them. Reiko has to tell Makoto to lay off the 'Miss' stuff. She thinks all her matches are learning experience for her to grow stronger, whether she wins or loses. This is how she's able to break Aigle's brainwashing later on in her storyline, and Reiko is heavily taken aback in her storyline when Makoto shows up brainwashed by Anesthesia into being coldhearted.
Aigle
- A-Cup Angst: Implied to have this before and after her match with Aisha. It is also implied that she has this before her match with Dixie.
- Braids, Beads and Buckskins: Her outfit for the most part.
- Hidden Depths: Though you only get to see them if you're playing as her. First of all, Aigle notices right off the bat that Evil Rose isn't really evil and comments that Evil Rose has a sad look like a 'wounded wolf'. Second of all, Aigle has the 'heart of a hawk', which is how she's able to figure out that Anesthesia's offer to make her stronger was made with a 'serpent's tongue.' And finally, when Makoto gets brainwashed into the Black Belt Demon in Aigle's storyline, Aigle manages to break through the brainwashing. Suffice it to say, while Aigle isn't speaking in her native language, and thus unfairly comes across as a simpleton, she's definitely no idiot.
- Innocently Insensitive: Aigle's usually pretty nice, but her reaction to the sight of Dixie's breasts is to exclaim that the cowgirl has 'teats more magnificent than [her] sheep.'
- Male Gaze: Aigle looks at Aisha's body before and after their match. She also looks at and compliments Dixie's breasts before their match.
- Meaningful Name: Even though she's Mongolian, Aigle is French for 'Eagle'.
- The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: In Makoto's storyline, Aigle promises not to lose and makes Makoto promise not to lose either so they can have their match later.
- Real Men Love Jesus: Aigle always refers to the Great Father when she speaks.
- Third-Person Person: Aigle refers to herself in the third person.
- You No Take Candle: English/Japanese isn't Aigle's first language, since she's from Mongolia. Consequently, Aigle has problems with pronouns and contractions, thus unfairly making her sound like more of an airhead than she really is, in a manner similar to Shampoo. This was tone down in XX, making it so that she only slips into this type of speaking on occasion.
Miss Muriel Spencer
Isolation Of Japan
- Armor-Piercing Slap: All of her punch attacks open with one of these.
- Badass Teacher: She prefers to stress the fact she's a teacher. The fact she can suplex people is just gravy as far as she's concerned. In her storyline, it turns out there's actually a reason why she's so good at suplexing despite being a teacher: it's because in her college days, before she became a teacher, she used to be captain of the wrestling team.
- Beauty Mark: Has one near the left side of her lips.
- Christmas Cake: She's 28 and single.
- Hot Teacher: She's a beautiful woman whose primary occupation is that of a teacher.
- Improbable Age: She's 28. It's said that, prior to being a teacher, she was the captain of her school's wrestling team, which explains how she carries her weight in the tournament.
- Meganekko: She wears a pair of glasses.
- Misplaced Kindergarten Teacher: She joins the fray when seeking Candy Cane out.
- Only Sane Man: With the exception of Dixie, she's pretty much the most level headed character in the cast, mainly by virtue of not giving a crap about the kayfabe the other characters take seriously.
- Zettai Ryouiki: She wears a skirt, stockings, knee-high boots, and knee pads.
Anesthesia
- Absolute Cleavage: Thanks to her nurse's outfit.
- Big Bad: And a non-spoiler example, since even in storylines where she first shows up as a friend offering an opportunity, such as in Makoto's storyline, Anesthesia's 'offer' is heavily loaded with creepy undertones, and whichever girl the player is playing as is heavily creeped out by it. In Reiko's storyline, Anesthesia's first introduced as the bitch who brainwashed Reiko's sister. Also, as we learn in her own storyline, her 'big plan' is to perfect Lady X as a weapon and radically alter the balance of global military power, but not as a 'merchant of death' - it's not about the money, it's about a desire to fill this world with fear and suffering.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Considering she's a face, even though she makes no real attempt to hide her bitchiness.
- Deal with the Devil: In most storylines other than hers, Anesthesia offers the girl in question an opportunity to become even stronger. They all refuse for different reasons; Makoto wants to get stronger through training and perseverance, Aisha finds Anesthesia creepy and wonders what her deal is, etc.
- Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Anesthesia seems to have trouble comprehending that humans are capable of experiencing emotions other than the 'jealousy, hatred, and humiliation' that she cites in her storyline's intro sequence. For example, when Reiko and Dixie act in a friendly manner after their match despite being huge rivals, Anesthesia's reaction is to wonder if they're going to hug, and then claim she's going to be sick. She has a similar 'going to be sick' reaction when Aigle and Makoto act in a friendly manner despite being huge rivals. This also ends up derailing her plan if the player is playing a face storyline; typically Anesthesia brainwashes someone, but that someone is then snapped out of it by the power of friendship.
- Hello, Nurse!: She's beautiful woman who wears a nurse's outfit.
- Light Is Not Good: The game designates her as a 'face,' but she's transparently evil from the get go.
- Mad Doctor: She likes to experiment on other women.
- Naughty Nurse Outfit: Her outfit has Absolute Cleavage.
- Psycho Lesbian: Has some really blatant Les Yay for most of the cast, and a remark she makes about 'Miss Walsh' (Candy Cane) has Miss Spencer rather understandably worried for her student's continued state of virtue.
- Sexy Stewardess: Her superstar gimmick.
- Underboobs: In her superstar outfit.
- Wham Line: Minor example in Reiko's storyline when Reiko expresses a desire to make her mother 'up there' proud of her: 'UP...there? Hm? She could be DOWN there for all you know. Right next to your sister.' It's sort of true; it turns out Lady X, the final boss, is a cyborg made from Reiko's mother's DNA.

Bloody Shadow/Benikage
- Dark Is Not Evil: She's only a heel because the game says so. She's no more evil, sinister, or even somewhat rude in her Bloody Shadow/Benikage persona than she is as Judgment/Yasha.
- Dramatic Unmask: Type I example. After she begins fighting independently rather than for any organization, she tosses her mask away as a symbol of this and fights without it for the final few matches of her story.
- Highly Visible Ninja: She's a ninja who's barely wearing anything at all.
- I Work Alone: Due to a certain event that happens in Bloody Shadow's storyline, at the end she decides she owes allegiance to no entity at all, even refusing to team up with Noble Rose.
- The Infiltration: Bloody Shadow isn't actually a heel; she's a member of an unidentified Japanese ministry and she's been sent to investigate the shenanigans going on behind the Rumble Roses tournament. This is not a spoiler, by the way, since it's the very first thing we hear from her narrative voice at the beginning of her story mode.
- Mask of Power: With an oni mouth etched on it, no less.
- Ninja: Her primary occupation.
- Ninja Log: When she initiates a reversal.
- Not So Different: Bloody Shadow's storyline revolves around her investigating the brainwashing scheme that turns women into 'puppets', but near the end, it turns out her boss has betrayed her and sold her to Anesthesia, like a 'dog'. This makes Bloody Shadow mad enough to turn into a 'wolf', to use her metaphor, and scuttle Anesthesia's scheme anyway.
- Precision F-Strike: 'You bitch, die'!
- Spotting the Thread: Bloody Shadow is unique in that she can tell when someone's been brainwashed even before they start talking like the Hulk and ranting about killing people. How? It turns out anyone who's been brainwashed gets a tattoo near their breast, and since Bloody Shadow's a trained government agent, she can spot this in advance.
- Vapor Wear: Her outfit leaves little to the imagination.
Evil Rose/Fujiko Hinomoto
- Big Damn Heroes: In Reiko's storyline, at one point, Anesthesia sneak-attacks Reiko after the player wins a match against Anesthesia, but Evil Rose shows up to bail Reiko out before Anesthesia can do too much damage.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Thanks to Anesthesia.
- The Dragon: To Anesthesia, both literally (in her superstar appearance) and metaphorically.
- Hero Antagonist: In Reiko's story arc, she's actually not all that much of a heel, even trying to help her despite being on opposite sides.
- 'I Know You're in There Somewhere' Fight: What Reiko utters to her before a match.
- Leotard of Power: She wears a red leotard.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: She's Reiko's sister.
- Scaled Up: Her superstar gimmick is a dragon form.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: She has light purple hair.
Candy Cane/Rebecca Welsh
- Bare Your Midriff: Due to her schoolgirl outfit.
- Catholic School Girls Rule: She's a schoolgirl who wears a schoolgirl outfit.
- Delinquents: She's a rude, defiant, punk rock schoolgirl.
- Fiery Redhead: Due to her being a punk rock girl.
- Girlish Pigtails: She sports red pigtails.
- Instrument of Murder: Can attack using her guitar.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's fighting to raise money to save the orphanage in which she grew up. And yet, she's billed as a heel. Pretty much because of her confrontational nature. This is also because, out of pride, Candy Cane usually refrains from actually telling people that her goal is to save an orphanage. She tells Miss Spencer her goal after the former beats the latter in the former's storyline, but in other cases, such as when Makoto asks Candy Cane why she fights, Candy Cane rudely responds that she's only in it 'for the money baby!'
- Male Gaze: Looks at and compliments Dixie's breasts before their match.
- Riot Grrrl: She's a punk rock girl.
Rowdy Reiko (a.k.a. Queen Cobra)
- Absolute Cleavage: Thanks to her biker outfit.
- Biker Babe: A biker babe leader, no less.
- Broken Bird: This version of Reiko became 'Rowdy' because she never found out what happened to her sister, and nobody in Japan gave a damn about her until she found the 'Road Warriors', who were all people with nowhere to go just like her.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Evil scars, in this case: one over her right eye.
- Scarf Of Asskicking: She wears a white scarf around her neck.
- She's Got Legs: Thanks to her being a biker.
- That Man Is Dead: Rowdy Reiko now insists on being called 'Queen Cobra' instead of 'Reiko', and insists that both Sergeant Clements and Noble Rose have 'got the wrong person.'
- Wooden Katanas Are Even Better: She uses a wooden sword.
Sgt. Clemets
- Ass Kicks You: She has the same corner ring butt slam attack as her original incarnation.
- Dirty Cop: Her heel persona.
- Dirty Harriet: Possibly, considering that most heels play up on fetishes, and Dixie here is no exception to this rule.
- Freudian Excuse: She became a 'cop' precisely because that way she'd be the good guy no matter what she did, after the fans started booing her when she'd expected them to cheer. The 'no matter what' part is what makes her a 'crooked cop', and therefore a 'heel'.
Showbiz/Sista A
- Belly Dancer: Her superstar gimmick.
- Dark-Skinned Blond: As can be seen in her picture.
- I Just Want to Be Special: Her motivation. Aisha turned into 'Showbiz' because her CD sales plummeted just because she liked to 'bend the rules' a bit, and she never forgot her famous days with eyes on her dancing on a stage.
- Underboobs: Thanks to her outfit.
The Black Belt Demon
- Bears Are Bad News: Subverted. She's capable of controlling her pet bear.
- Emotionless Girl: She shows very little emotion.
- Evil Costume Switch: She wears a black kimono.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Sort of. While Makoto has a cute band-aid on one knee, BBD has a taped bandage.
Killer Khan/Great Khan
- Dragon Lady: Complete with a qipao-styled dress.
- Facial Markings: Wears white makeup and red facepaint.
- In Name Only: Killer Khan is the ring name of an actual wrestler. Subverted in that Aigle's fighting style (roughneck, sometimes with weapons) and nationality (Mongolian) are actually similar to the billing of the real life Killer Khan's. Hence, she was renamed Great Khan in Rumble Roses XX.
- Large Ham: 'ALL become SLAVE to KILLER KHAN!'
- Third-Person Person: She refers to herself in the third person.
Mistress Spencer
- Beauty Mark: Has one near the left side of her lips.
- Dominatrix: Her character gimmick.
- Evil Feels Good: Her entire motivation. She got a thrill from the pain of her opponents, and she was frustrated that merely giving students a good 'talking to' wasn't enough to discipline them. So she tried the BDSM route, and found that she liked it.
- Eyepatch of Power: She wears one on her right eye.
- Fairytale Wedding Dress: Her superstar gimmick is a wedding themed BDSM outfit.
- Mistress and Servant Boy: With Sebastian the Clown.
- Pretty in Mink: Her corset and High Class Gloves are trimmed with white fur.
- Thong of Shielding: She wears a black one that's part of her BDSM outfit.
- Whip It Good: Complete with BDSM theme.
Dr. Cutter/Dr. Anesthesia
- Ass Kicks You: Her superstar appearance uses the same quadruple butt slam that Dixie uses.
- Big Bad: Of both games.
- Dr. Jerk: She's an evil doctor.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: One over her left eye.
- Green-Skinned Space Babe: Her superstar gimmick.
- Mad Doctor: She likes to experiment on other women.
Judgment/Yasha
- Highly Visible Ninja: She's a ninja who's barely wearing anything at all.
- Justice Will Prevail: She fights for honor and justice.
- Leotard of Power: She wears a white and gold leotard.
- Ninja Log: One of Judgement's special moves is to get German Suplexed only to disappear in a cloud of smoke and leave the opponent trying to pin a log. She karate chops them from behind while they're staring at the log in bafflement.
- Vapor Wear: Her outfit leaves little to the imagination.
Noble Rose/Fujiko Hinomoto
- Absolute Cleavage: Thanks to her outfit.
- Expy: Of Cutey Honey.
- Justice Will Prevail: After breaking free of her brainwashing, Noble Rose vows to stop Anesthesia.
- Leotard of Power: She wears a black and white leotard.
- Something About a Rose: She's known as Noble Rose.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: She has little purple hair.
Rebecca 'Becky' Welsh
- All Guys Want Cheerleaders: Her gimmick.
- Bare Your Midriff: This is justified due to her gimmick.
- Face–Heel Turn: Reverts back into her Candy Cane persona at the end of her storyline.
- Genki Girl: Due to her being a cheerleader.
- Girlish Pigtails: Sports a pair of blonde pigtails.
Lady X Substance/Lady X Subsistence
- All Your Powers Combined: She has all the best moves in the games.
- Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Thanks to being experimented on by Anesthesia.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: She's actually Kamikaze Rose, Reiko and Fujiko's Missing Mom. And it's when looking for her that Fujiko gets turned into Evil Rose.
- One-Winged Angel: In the first game.
- Ridiculously Human Robot: She's a cyborg.
- Shout-Out: The Substance/Subsistence is reference to the Metal Gear series.
